Is Influenza or Flu dangerous? Whats the mortality rate? Are anti-biotics helpful? Is vitamin C helpful? |
Is paracitimol the only drug which can control the fever? influenza can be deadly -this is why there is such a big push for a vaccination each year. get your shot, wash your hands frequently, and see your doctor if you think you have it within 3 days of the symptoms for treatment. it is a virus and antibiotics will not work. tylenol is great for fever. I can't answer all your questions, but the real "Flu" can be dangerous especially for the very young, weak or very old. And I'm not talking about the 24-hour variety of "flu" bug that people often refur to. The Flu is a virus, so antibiotics are not likely to help (although in some instances a patient might be prescribed them if they have or are at risk for a bacterial infection). The mortality rate depends on a lot of factors including geography. I'm not sure about the drug you mention, but Tylenol works well for reducing low grade fevers. A person with a high fever (over 101) should be seen immediately by a doctor. |
