Hepatitis, rabies, influenza, tetanus questions about Vaccinations.?

1. Why should people get vaccinated?
2. Who should get vaccinated?
3. When should you get vaccinated?
4. How are viruses spread?
5. What are two misconception/myths about vaccinations/immunizations?

1.) It is up in the air about vaccinations. There are studies going on that vaccinations can be more harmful than helpful. However (and this answers question #2), there are certain people that should probably get vaccinated for different things. Elderly people and children should be vaccinated, since their immune systems are not as strong/developed (in the child's case). Anyone who lives where disease is prevelant should be vaccinated.
3.) When should you get vaccinated? Talk to your doctor. They will give you a guideline about vaccinations and what you should be vaccinated for depending upon the area you live in.
4.) Viruses are spread in many different ways. Bodily fluids is probably one of the worst ways. Saliva, Blood, Sexual excretements, etc.
5.) One misconception is that vaccines are 100% effective. They arent. Most vaccines only protect against certain strands of a disease, and some don't fully protect against any kinds.
Another misconception is that everyone should be vaccinated. This is dependent upon (mostly) age and the region you live in. Most healthy adults with good immune systems in the U.S. do not need to be vaccinated. I never get the flu shot and I have not gotten the flu since I stopped getting the shot.

Well, how about this....to stay healthy. Isn't that reason enough?
