Why does influenza strike most often during wet season?

Why does influenza strike most often during wet season?

The major reason is that influenza, like most viruses, relpicate and live longer on non-living surfaces in the presence of moisture in the air and on the surface. This is why in places like the Southwestern US, this is less of a problem. It dies in the dry heat before you can catch it as easily.

when people get wet, they get cold which weakens the immune system

For influenza to attack the body must have a weakened immune system. So when one gets wet the immunity is lowered and influenza is happy to attack.

Less sunshine is the key. With sunshine and exercise, one's body fights disease better.
