Extraction question?

I recently (tues)had a tooth extraction on one of my molars and also had 2 temporary bridges put in. One of them was in place of the extracted tooth I just got pulled and was wondering if anyone knows how long this pain is supposed to last? I was given Ibuprofen 800mg but cannot take it due to I have Inflammatory bowel disease so I was given Tylenol 3 which does nothing at all!! The dentist will not give me anything else but I am in a lot of pain. Is there any thing else that can releive some of this pain...I am desperate.

im sorry to hear that... i recently had two wisdom teeth pulled... i was taking vicodin very frequently for about a week and a half... and i felt like i needed it even after... it wasnt horrible after the week and a half but discomfort.. im not sure if what your going through is worse cause you had other stuff done but thats what i went through... i cant imagine if i was taking only tylenol for those days... but im a girl so i dunno

I have had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled in one day and my dentist gave me percocet. He gave me ten pills and I was directed to take 1 pill every 4 hours and my pain only lasted for the first day. I think your gonna have to suck it up. It doesn't sound like your dentist is going to give you anything else so you don't have much choice.

You should start recovering from the pain by now. I hope you are not developing a dry socket. These commonly occur around the 3rd or 4th day after extraction. You should make an appt. today and go back to let the doctor look at your gum. I had two of these and the pain in just unbearable. Good luck.

I always found that a hot or cold compress on the side of the face that is bothersome does wonders, but if the pain is really bugging you go and see your doctor or chemist for an alternative pain reliever that you can take.
