Does the medicine for asthma called "Flovent" With steroids in cause infertility in men?

My Husband and I are trying to concieve but he has been using his reliever or inhaler 3 times a day and the doctor put him now on Flovent. I really would like some information regarding his medication before I let him take it. I would love to have a kid.
Flovent has a steroid in it and I pretty much know the side affects of steroids but I don't know if the same side affects are present in this drug as well regarding infertility.

Please give me just a little information regarding this.
I DO NOT WANT A COPY AND PASTE.. I want the real answer from a real person. Thank you all-

If anyone knows of anything healthy or with herbs that will help as well.. please tell me..
or some great links for healthy medications rather then the over the counter stuff.

Thank you all-

1) There are no doctors on this site.

2) Don't ask people here.

3) Why would you think that people actually KNOW that Flovent causes infertility...

4) We can't give you any freakin' answer because you required no copy and paste .. People aren't that smart here!

5) GO ASK A DOCTOR!

ask a doctor not just ppl here

you should have got a sheet explaining about the medication when you got it i also have asthma and inside the box it comes in are the facts ask you DR

No, Flovent does not cause infertility. However, it does have several other side effects. Ask your pharmacist to give you a sheet of information on the medication and all of its side effects. They are supposed to provide you with that if asked to do so.

Flovent does have side effects, but steroids taken for asthma are generally not absorbed into the blood stream in large amount, so the risks of steroid-based side effects are considerably lower.

Using a reliever 3 times a day - that's probably a level of asthma you want to take seriously. There's really bad medication compliance in general for asthma, and it's not a good thning. I'm not aware of any herbs that will help, but if you do hear about any, make sure you talk to your doc before getting your husband to avoid medication.

Be sure to read the medication insert that came with the Flovent, because it will give you the run-down of possible side-effects. However, inhaled steroids are given because they act almost solely in the lungs like a topical medication, and have very little systemic effect (effects throughout the rest of the body). So it should not affect his fertility.

It's good that he has started on the Flovent because it will help reduce inflammation in his lungs that has been leading to him using his other inhaler 3x/day! Incidentally, he can also ask his doctor to give him a "peak flow meter" which will help him track his response daily, as well as predict ahead of time if his lung function is getting worse.

Good luck!

No. It is a corticosteroid.

Is your husband seeing a Pulmonologist? Flovent is good, but there are other corticosteroids that have long lasting bronchodiators in them like Advair. There are also long lasting maintenance drugs like Spiriva.
A person can have their fast acting inhaler, but there are a lot of other things that can be taken to avoid using the rescue inhaler so much.

Good luck with conceiving.

I have been on flovent for several years I can't find any thing that says it could cause infertility. I do know that you need to rinse your mouth out to prevent thrush. It comes hfa 44mcg-110mcg and hfg220mcg. If you may still be in doubt call your local drug store.I read all the information that comes with it. I would never take the word on any drug that I use from a non-professional

Well' flovent is a steriod Cortisteroid to be precise its used to reduce lung inflamation... If you want to reduce his asthma symptoms his enviroment should be void of triggers.
Pet dander, cat or dog, Smoking, He should avoid heavy dairy, milk eggs, cheese, and eat bannas occasionally as the drugs from asthma deplete pottasium levels in the blood..
If he started working out at a local gym , and also bought an air cleaner of somesort he may not need to use the medication at all...

NO
however, you need to brush your teeth after each use, it will cause thrush in your mouth and it can eat the enamel off your teeth.
