Infertility in women from ruptured appendix? |
This is a question for the truly medically knowledgeable: My brother and I are both adopted. My mother told us that she was unable to conceive because of an appendicitis she experienced shortly after she and my father wed. However, all of the other men on his side have had no luck in conception. It has made me question her story. Can a woman's tubes really get messed up during an emergency appendicitis procedure? actually, a severe infection caused by a ruptured appendix could result in scar tissue throughout the pelvis which could distort the fallopian tubes and their ability to move and pick up the eggs. a very bad ruptured appendix could be just like severe pid which also causes infertility by messing up the tubes. it could be true, but it may also just be her explanation. I cannot imagine this is true. There are two ovaries and fallopian tubes, one on each side (I'm sure you know) and the appendix is only on the right side. Even if there was a slip up, she would still have had her left ovary. I guess it's possible that the infection was so bad it spread to her uterus....but really, that is quite far fetched. Why does it matter why she can't have children anyway? She probably made that reason up to get people off her back. Sounds sort of true...but ask your doctor out of curiousity next time. |

I think you'll be fine, as long as its been treated. Its not like you had it long enough to seriously damage your fellopian tubes. I am sure you'll be fine. Good Luck x Lydia 鈾... |
