Infectious Diseases Experts Advice please...? |
A friend of mine who has hepatitis B said that his mother washed his shirt that he used to wipe his sperm after masturbating. What are his mother's chances of getting infected? 1st: Hep B is contracted by direct contact with open wound or from blood to blood! Did she have any open wounds or cuts on her hands? If so , there's a possibility of infection. HBV is spread through having sex with an infected person without using a condom, by sharing needles, or through needlesticks or sharps exposures on the job( health care workers), or from an infected mother to her baby during birth. Chances of his mother getting infected are VERY slim and that's if she had a pretty significant open and fresh cut on her hand. NO chance not unless hes mother has an open wound and then she washed it then there would be some posibility of getting infected! Yes the sperms is infectious because it contains blood.. but it does not mean that when you are touching it you are prone to that kind of disease.. I guess if you have an intercourse with somebody she might get infected with that too... None whatever. She did not his blood into her blood. Unlikely. The virus spreads through exchange of bodily fluids, not through air. So unless his mother had any open wounds / broken skin on her hands, where the virus from his seminal fluid might possibly get in... Otherwise, intact skin is a barrier against the virus... Or unless she somehow splashed herself in the eye while washing. Still, the viral count in the wash would be very minimal... But if they're really worried, just go for a blood screen. Once now, and again several weeks later (coz it may take some time for the virus to show up in the blood test)... Meanwhile, to be even safer, he might want to use a condom if masturbating, after which, if he correctly removes and ties up the condom, he can dispose of the fluid more safely. None if they didn't have sex maybe, if the sperm or seamen happens to somhow end up containing the H-B or catches it after it comes out, then just maybe |
