MRSA and C Diff which can both be picked up from hospital, if youre unlucky (Ive been in hospital several times, and worked there for 6 years and never picked anything up but hey)

Bear in mind, any infectious disease / illness can be fatal if it attacks someone with a low immune system - eg Bronchitis / Diarhoea & Vomiting / etc

MRSA is not generally considered a fatal disease, but it can contribute to death in very ill people. It is not always caught in hospitals either, one third of the population carry it harmlessly in their throats and bring it into hospital with them. It can then be innocently passed onto others, i.e by touch, so do not offer/accept sweets or magazines etc from fellow patients.

I believe that C. DIFFICILE is now one of the most infectious diseases rife in our hospitals at the moment. The death rates are being kept quiet by most hospitals, as the doctors are not putting this down as possible cause of a patient's death. They are writing 'multiple organ failure' or someting similar, but not saying that the C.Difficile has caused this failure!
I don't think screening would really help with this problem, as I am given to believe that we all have the C.Diff in our bodies which lies dormant until disturbed by the strong Antibiotics given to treat other illnesses and injury. My dear Mum has just passed away after going into hospital with a leg injury. She was in otherwise fairly good health, although she was 86yrs of age. The leg was being treated with strong Antibiotics which apparently caused C.Diff to rear it's ugly head and she sadly died 3 1/2 weeks later. I believe the bug is encouraged to thrive in our hospitals due to the hygiene basics not being adhered to by both staff and visitors alike and there is cross infection in the wards. I also believe that the Doctors do not take enough notice of how their patient is looking or feeling when they do their rounds, as they rely on the notes being kept by the ward staff. If they were to also check on whether their patients are eating or drinking enough to help slow the dehydraton process which C.Diff causes, then many elderly or vulnerable patients would not need to die so needlessly. If anyone has to go into hospital for whatever reason, please make sure that all precautions are taken with regard to cleanliness of your surroundings, whilst in the hospital ward and make your relatives and visitors aware of the dangers also.
