Can depression be caused by infectious diseases such as tonsillitis?

i' ve had tonsilittis for two days, and now i started to feel depressed. Is it a coincidence?

I'm not expert - I'm not even a Dentist - but tonsillitis doesn't directly cause depression - it causes a sore throat.
Feelings of disappointment at the pain and discomfort may feel like depression, but they pass/

No, it can't. Clinical depression is defines as experiencing the symptoms of depression for a minimum of two weeks without any relief. You may be feeling down because your immune system is getting a workout right now. It's not depression, though. Once your infection begins to clear, you'll feel better.

ummm i think i had wat u had when i was... and i had my tonsils removed- there was nothing to be depressed about because i was apparently supposed to eat a lot of ice cream! Maybe ur depressed because you feel sick, and ur not doing what u normally do...
