Can I get serious infectious diseases from a cab?

I have OCD. I worry alot. But, the other day I got into a cab and looked in the window and there was a dark red spot on te window. I assumed it was blood. I have been extremely nervous since then, what if there was blood on the seats?

When I got back to my apartment. I checked my jacket and jeans for any red blood spots for about an hour and a half. I did not see anything. But I have not touched my jacket or jeans for about 25 hours now, because I heard viruses and bacteria in blood die after a certain amount of time. And just a few mintues ago my arm brushed up against my jacket, I didnt see anything, but i sanitzed my and twice wiht hand sanitizer...I want to know if that sanitation would kill any serious viruses on my skin from touching the jacket and I want to know if its safe to touch my jacket and jeans now...Any suggestions?

I meant serious infectious diseases like STD's

Your assumption may have been wrong. Chances are, in a big city taxi cab that it wasn't blood at all. Rather, it may have been pigeon dung. So you won't get an STD. But there may still be the risk of Avian flu. I know, bad joke, just kidding.

Seriously, see your doctor to have your medications adjusted; you're having breakthroughs.

is it the cab used in taxicab confessionals? then maybe cause I seen some freaky stuff going on in that cab

You are safe. Germs die easily when they dry out. Take your OCD meds.

yup, you have ocd alright, even had that little spot in the cab been blood, anything in it that was remotely possibly dangerous would have been dead. Your clothing is safe, and so are you.

you can get an infectious disease from anywhere my friend. just be sure to wash your hands very well.

Yeah, go see a psychiatrist and have your meds adjusted.

Humans are remarkably resilient, otherwise there wouldn't be over 6 billion of us around the world in environments ranging from desert to tropical to frozen f'ing tundra. From the cleanest hospital rooms to disease ridden hell holes like Calcutta and Paris Hiltons' sheets.

Your immune system works best when it gets some exercise, so man up.

It should be alright to touch the clothes now but, to be safe I would wash those clothes immediately. Remember that deadly case of staph is going around so you can't take the chances. Oh and most hand sanitizers says that they kill 99.99% of germs so what do you think, I know they do.

your right to feel the way you do..next time I would remove all the clothing and have it laundered or dry cleaned...(if your heading home and can)..

as a practise and from hearing about it in the news
(prevention).. My husband and I when ever we visit the hospital. Everything goes into the laundry and we immediately take a shower..

we may sound paranoid but for our protection and for our family its important that we do it..

You're doomed, my friend. Several viruses are now replicating in various tissues and cells. The cellular machinery is hijacked and transformed into an assembly line for the production of new viral RNA and protein. Soon each infected cell will pop open and thousands of new viruses will spread into your bloodstream looking for new cells to infect. There is nothing you can do, they are taking over your body. They will hijack your central nervous system so you feel obliged to take a ride in another taxi. Whilst leaning against the window a giant pustule on your face will burst and blood will splat onto the window, ready for the next cycle to begin.
You are doomed my friend... doomed

I know what serious anxiety OCD can cause. No matter how crazy it might sound to someone else it is a very real fear to the person with OCD. You have nothing to worry about. If there had been blood on your clothes, you would have seen it. So many things would have to happen at once...let me try to talk you through this. First of all, it would have to have really been blood. Next of all it would have to be blood from a person that was infected with something serious, HIV, Hepatitis, etc. Next you would have to have gotten some of that blood in an open wound or cut. It was most likely dry and who knows how long it had been there. There are so many things that would have had to happen for you to even have a remote chance of contracting anything. Wash your clothes. Not because they need it but because it will make you feel better. Use gloves to handle them. Again, not because you need to but because it will ease the anxiety. YOU WILL BE FINE. Are you taking meds for the OCD? If not please see a doctor. You can really ease the anxiety with medication. It is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain and it is no different from cancer or anything else, in that you can't help having it. Best wishes and please don't worry.
