I need 2 things that cause infectious diseases and how to prevent and treat them.?

this is for a thirteen year old's school report.

misquitos cause molaria and ticks cause lime disease. bug repelant helps prevent these and to treat them you need anti biotics from a dr. The rest YOU have to do. its YOUR homework

Strep- strain of bacteria. Prevent it by killing bacteria with bleach or other cleansers, washing hands, using hand sanitizer, etc. Strep is treated with antibiotics.

Staph- strain of bacteria. Prevented and treated the same as Strep.

Look up CDC,Centers Diseases Contol web site I think you may be able to find some material there

Causes of infectious diseases:

Airborne transmission: infection is spread through coughing, sneezing, talking, etc and the water droplets containing the virus are spread to someone else.

Foodborne transmission: infection spread through the ingestion of contaminated food. Ie salmonella poisoning through consumption of raw chicken.

Prevention:

Never share drinks, toothbrushes, razors, eye mascara, finger food with people who you know are ill. Practice frequent handwashing, with soap, for at least 15 seconds each washing. Avoid touching your mouth/nose/eyes/ears with your hands as this is a great way to introduce a virus or bacteria into a bodily orifice.

Always make sure that raw meats are fully cooked. There are thermometers to make sure food is the correct temperature. Always wipe down counters and tables with disinfectant that may have come into contact with raw meat. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water when cooking with raw meat. Avoid cross contamination by using one set of utensils/cooking trays for the raw meat and do not re-use on other products.

Treatment: Seek medical attention, wash hands frequently to prevent the spread, get lots of rest and avoid stressing the body (ie lack of sleep, too much sun, overworking).

hepatitis!

hepatitis b is old school, but interestingly enough!

but my favorite subject is hepatitis c! (over 5 million have hcv, half don't know it, a large proportion has no idea how they acquired it)

hcv is an RNA virus
hbv is a DNA virus

i suggest hepatitis c because not many are aware of it and all the millions of ways one can get it! (always blood to blood!)
