How do i find a good doctor that specializes in sepsis?or infectious diseases?

How do i find a good doctor that specializes in sepsis?or infectious diseases?

Most hospitals do have medical specialists on infectious diseases. The protocol in treating sepsis is not really that difficult and most doctors can do that however it is not the management that is the main problem though septic patient are always admitted in a hospital.

What makes sepsis complicated is when the infecting microbes proves resistant to antibiotics that needs blood work mainly on culture and sensitivity testing to properly identify the infecting microorganism and what antibiotic it is responsive to. Another factor that may complicate the septic condition is when the patient developed sepsis initially unrecognized causing a significant delay in proper management especially when hypotension and disseminated intravascular coagulation has started setting in initiating some degree of hemorrhagic episodes adding further insult to the hypotensive condition.

do a search on the net. maybe use the search term: find dr. in your area by specialty

Call your local health department and they can refer you.. or you can call the CDC for a referral for your area.

I would suggest going to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. They have a great facility and many fine doctors, all of whom are on salary so they don't prescribe unnecessary procedures to make more money. However, sepsis is a very serious disease that cannot be ignored. By the time an infection has become septic you have to treat it almost always in the hospital within days or the patient will usually die. The clock is ticking. Act today and good luck.
