Check out this link. I am not a doctor, but I do have a friend who discovered as an adult that she had meniere's disease.

I also struggled with vertigo several years ago - really, really severe, and was told I had some type of ear infection. Looking back the doctors were really vague, but they prescribed something for dizziness I can't remember what now but it is what's in one type of OTC Dramamine. They also gave me Valium and told me there wasn't much to do but stay in bed until it passed. It was severe for about a week, and it took several months before I felt "right". I had a relapse a few years later, but it hasn't bothered me in probably seven or eight years. It is the most miserable I think I have ever been, though. I couldn't even move my head on the pillow for several days without being very dizzy and nauseous. I hope you feel better soon!
