Are there cures for viral infections? |
Are there cures for viral infections? No, they can sometimes prescribe medications that cause the virus to go dormant. However, most viruses once you've had it you will carry it forever and some will occur/re-occur if immune system allows/ is weakend or unable to fight it off. Most cases..Time! No. That's why doctors can't cure the common cold. It's a virus. Longterm no. You can get better, but the virus will always be in your body. Your immune system just builds up antibodies to defend against the virus. Go see a doctor for more information if you are that worried. Currently, there are no "cures" for viral infections. We have vaccines which inoculate people against certain virus, and we have drugs to treat viruses like interferon or antiretroviral medications. Some viruses are not that serious and will pass with little or no treatment and some will end up killing the patient, and some will just be there forever and be a cause for annoyance. There are no cures I am aware of, they just have to run their course. While waiting for your body to heal itself, do the things that are good for you, such as plenty of liquids and rest. Viral infections do go away in time. I don't know about 'cures' for it but my doctor often say that if anyone has viral infection in the family, let it come to pass. The person who has it, will recover on it's own. What I do if I have one is- of course, see a doctor. But after coming home without any prescription, I would simply take a rest and drink lots of fluid. But if kids are affected, you really have to let them see their pediatrician first who might suggest some over-the-counter remedies for cough or tummy ache.+ There are no cures for viral infections. Once you have the virus, it is with you forever. There are some treatments that can help the virus from showing a symptomatic stuff, but that is usually a cover up just to hide the virus for a while. Nope - nobody has ever come up with a cure for a virus of any kind. You can shorten the episodes and relieve pain, thats it. Your own immune system is the best "cure" but better still is to avoid catching a virus in the first place. |
