Viral Infection curable? once it runs its course, its gone forever?

are there any viral infections that are curable? once a viral infections runs its course over time, will you ever catch that viral infection again? i read somewhere that once you catch a certain type of cold and it ran its course, you can never catch that type of cold again.

That is not true. But, there are literally thousands of viruses. There is no way of knowing if you have caught the same "bug" more than once. Most viruses that cause the common cold all have similar symptoms so there would be no way of knowing which one caused the problem. Viral infections are not cured - they just have to be allowed to run it's course. Maybe someday...........

No virus is cureable, but there are certain types that your body is able to adapt to, keeping that particular structure(species) of virus from infecting you again. The problem is that one type of virus (cold, flu, etc) can have many different structures or subspecies. Doctors use this ability of your body's to administer a similar but weaker type of virus into your body during an innoculation(vaccine). The hope is that your body will quickly kill off the introduced virus and be more ready to cope with and destroy the more popular or harmful strain of the virus.

I think you are wrong. Viruses are curable. They are developing research in the Netherlands to cure viruses by ways of antibody resistance. The hard part is that they need to pool many people to isolate a pool strong enough to fight off viral infections.
