Toddler son had chickenpox 6 weeks ago since then one thing after another colds coughs viral infections why? This is not an unusual pattern. After a decent viral infection the immune system may be under par and remain so for some months. If you check white blood counts there is often a neutropaenia ( low neutrophils) and one of the immune globulins is often low. His immune system is out of whack. This is not usually the case. Please consult your pediatrician. probably a weak immune system. you should go to your pediatrician for some vaccines so that he won't get sick so often. children have weaker immune systems to start with, compared to adults, and with chicken pox, immunity goes down too. my young cousin had a similar case, take good care of him and he'll be fine. In this case you really should consult with a pediatrician. His immune system is doing it's best to fight infections but he may need a boost of a good antibiotic. my son has had chicken pox twice we planned a holiday in march but had to cancel coz he caught them then 2 weeks later my daughter caught them, maybe his immune system is low! Dr. Frank`s advice looks spot on. My son went through the same and I`m a school teacher and i`ve seen it in other kids too. This phase will pass, but always consult your doctor if u are anxious about any aspect of your child`s health. Have you seen a doctor? Does your son go to nursery school or day care? Young kids who are in frequent contact with other children often pass around the disease of the day because their immature immune systems can't fight it all off. it's weakened his immune system. |
