Viral Infection and a liquid diet?????

Ok so I've been feeling really sick these past few days. Like bad throwing up direhea (eww i know) and just feeling really Nauseaous. Anyways Ive also lost 5-7 lbs in 2 days because I just cant eat. So I went to the doctor had blood drawn (I seriously HATE needles and I pass out) and urinated in a cup and it came back that I have a viral infection (thats all he said)Anyways so he told me I have to stay on a clear liquid diet NO solid foods until this clears up, which he says could take up to a week.......He said its really imprtant not to eat solid foods because Ill just throw them back up and get more dehydrated to the point of having to have IV fuids. he said I should do this even when I start feeling better.
How in the world am I not supposed to eat once I start feeling well enough to after having not eaten in like 4-5 days?? Any advice.
(this is the first time ive been online in like 2 days....i simply could not stay at the computer long enough before) he alos gave me meds f

gave me meds for Nausea if thats any help to ya!

I just want advice and to know is this really going to help me?

How do I not eat for a couple days after I feel like I can eat a little?

When you begin to feel better and to have an appetite then you might try having a little vegetable broth or beef consomme; both of which are clear liquids..before going to the trouble of making either from scratch however, you can make a perfectly nice broth using organic stock cubes; or ASDA's cheapest stock cubes, which have nothing horrible in them. You will find the taste comforting and the warmth should be soothing to your stomach, but only have a little the first time and see how your body reacts. If all goes well you can try some dry toast with broth after another day or so..and if that don't thrill you to bits....
