Crying part of viral infection?

I was off work sick last week with a viral infection, starting with bad cold and chest pains. I鈥檝e been tired and spent most of Saturday asleep in bed. Today I went for a walk and found my chest still hurting and I slept for another 2 hours when I got back. I just feel so weak and wussy 鈥?sometimes I鈥檓 OK and sometimes I鈥檓 tired and find the simplest tasks hardwork. Normally it takes a lot for me to cry but I鈥檝e been crying for no reason. It seems to be when I think of going back to work I get upset and that doesn鈥檛 help the chestpains 鈥?I don鈥檛 think I鈥檓 ready to go back. How long does it take to get over a virus and would the crying be to do with it? Is there anything I should do to make myself better? I don't want the crying to be anxiety but if it is - what do I do about that? I am not usually ill so feel an idiot for asking so thanks for any advice.

I have been on antibiotics in the last week for chest infection chest pains e.t.c.
I felt completely exhausted with it, and it may be the tiredness that is making you cry, or it could be an unrelated hormonal problem
Hope you feel better soon xx

It sounds like you've still not gotten over the virus or the effects of it. Even when you get over the virus itself, you could still feel weak for a few days as your body hasn't been concentrating on rebuilding you, but rather defeating the virus.

Give it a few more days, get lots of rest and make sure you keep up things like vitamins which can help your body recover quicker. If it doesn't go within another 5 days I'd go back to the doctors as it could be your need something to give you a helping hand.Things like Red Bull might also help.

The crying could well just be because you're exhausted and your defences are low. Just an emotional side effect of feeling rotton.

Viral infections do make you feel miserable. They can take quite some time to fully get over so you must be patient. As you are finding, you get tired even after not doing much, so rest and sleep are really important. Listen to what your body is telling you and don't fight it - it will only take you longer to get back to your old self. Drink lots of water and eat good food. If you are not fit to go to work I'm sure your GP will give you a sick certificate for as long as you need. Keep your chin up - you will get better!
