Is a viral infection contiguous? |
my one year old has got rash from neck to feet, little red raised spots, with slight fever and off food. doc says viral infection, and not contiguous, but now two year old daughter has same thing. If it is a viral illness, by definition is has to be infectious or where did the child get it from in the first place. Average child picks up 7 a year, that's one every 7 weeks anyway! Not sure what your doctor had in mind unless one of you either misinterpreted the question or the answer. Virus' get around somehow. How could he say they're not contagious? Viral infections are not contagious. all viral infections are contagous. time for a new doc??? Usually a viral infection isn't contagious.But with a fever then I think it would be. I think it probably is contagious. It might also be like chicken pox - the doctor thought the infection had passed and the rash was left over to go down. I would advise you go back to the doctor's, the same or a different doctor (I'm sure it was a competent doctor). Good luck. most definatley. |
