24 weeks pregnant w/ viral infection that isn't getting better?

This last tues. night I started getting symptoms...heavy chest/wheezing/coughing/vomited twice thursday night and once friday morning. was diagnosed thursday in ER with viral infection, cuz I had 104 fever. Doc said it would just have to take it's course, but it's not getting any better and I just feel yuck! This isn't gonna harm the baby or cause labor will it? I have lost my appetite, and I don't know what meds to take for cough. Help!?

viruses are self-limiting. meaning, they die off on their own. you don't need antibiotics for it. and it would be best if you don't take any kind of medicine because it can harm your baby. best to see your OB about what your feeling. but think rest and a lot of fluids should be enough. NO MEDICINES.

Call your dr and ask him/her about what to take. This is normal for the flu.

I am surprised that the ER doc didn't tell you what to do if it didn't subside on its own and even moreso that he didn't tell you to follow up with your OB! Your baby should be ok, but I would definitely call your OB because most of them want to be notified if you are sick in case they decide that they need you to come in.
Get well!
