Is it possible to have neurological irregularities as a result of a viral infection? |
My daughter started to get a cold Sunday night. I took her to the dr. Mon. AM. +3 tonils, no strep, no fever. Got home later that morning. She started to have tremors and then had a seizure about an hour later. By that point, her temp was 102. By the time we got to the ER, it was 104. Told the seizure was a result of the fever, so I wasn't too worried. Told to follow up with pediatrician, which I did the following morning. By that time, her eyes were starting to cross and she was stumbling when trying to walk. We were admitted to the hospital. MRI, Spinal Tap, EEG, blood work all normal. Seen by neurolgist. Pediatric neurologist consult said a bad viral infection could cause neurological inconsistencies and they will go away on their own. She is much better, but still suffering from minor symptoms. I'm tempted to insist that we be seen by pedicatric neurologist. HELP! If the Paediatric neurologist consulted on your daughter's case than s/he examined your daughter's symptoms, tests, and treatments. Since your daughter was already seen by the pediatric neurologist (the consult), why are you insisting to be seen by them again? |
