I have thrush in my throat which has occured from a recent viral infection.? |
At the begining of the week i had a viral infection and severe tonsilitis, i have literally just got over it and now have realised i have blisters right at the back of my tongue and throat. My mum says it's thrush, I haven't been to the doctors yet but will on wednesday when my doctors re-opens. I am concerned that if this is thrush this may be contagious. Can anyone help. Also until wednesday when i go to the docs can anyone suggest anything to help to get rid of it? Thrush is a common complication of antibiotic therapy. If you ring NHS Direct they can arrange an anti-fungal prescription. Daktarin oral gel is also available without prescription. cant remember what they gave me but you definately need a docs prescription it sounds like thrush, it's very common after infection, gargle with salt water, the gp will give you something for it, it's a fungal infection, often happens after anti biotics that kill all the goody bugs too, yes its contagious, through kissing, oral sex etc thrush is white spot all over mouth i think u may have tonsillitis again but if it is thrush it my travel down so be very careful with your girlfriend even with kissing until u c the doctor I've had this before and it's really horrible. Didn't get blisters though, just a white coating on my tongue. Best thing to do until doctors re-opens is go to a chemist and ask the pharmacist to have a look. If it is thrush you need some oral Daktarin gel. As far as I can remember, I didn't need a prescription for this but it was a while ago. And yes, it is contagious so no kissing!!!! oh dear poor you and trust this to flare up over eatser, what u need is anti biotics but without the doctor u cant get them so make sure you take vitamin c and pain killers if it hurt, gaggle salt water 4 times aday and hopefully it will get better soon, i had somethign silmiar last yr and had to have my toinsils out this yera good luck you poor love, i had it all last week and its horrible. doctor gave me somthing to put on my tongue 4 times aday and it worked. good luck xxx Gargle with warm salt water and don't kiss anyone coz if it is thrush they may get it. Good luck! It sounds like it could be thrush. It can be contagious. I would recommend eating yogurt a couple of times a day for the next week. It will help get rid of the thrush, it that's what it is. Also talk to your doctor when you see him/her. try eating natural live yogurt and get some daktarin it always does the trick for me. Hey Joe, The lesions you describe in your throat is not thrush. Thrush is a yeast infection in the mouth and is characterized by thick whitish to yellowish patches on the tongue and throat. it sounds like stomatitis which are blisters in the mouth associated with a viral infection. Your doctor might run a strep and regular throat culture which are just simple swabs of the throat just to be on the safe side. For now drink plenty of fluids to keep well hydrated, Tylenol for pain and or fever. I understand that swallowing is probably uncomfortable right now, but really try to keep hydrated. Have a nice Easter. eat plenty of pure yogart that will clear it |
