i have had a viral infection ever since tuseday morning and i cant keep liquids downi try to drink some water but it just falls out of my mouth so what can i do to make the water go down my throat when it is completly closed up

Hi there.... Very important to drink plenty of fluids with any type of infection. Fluids dilute and purge the body of toxins quickly and re-hydrate the body as fulid is evaporated.
Best approach is to suck on crushed ice or to freeze your favorite juice in ice cube trays. Sucking on the small frozen portions makes a difference. Also just plain water is difficult to keep down when one is sick. Perhaps jello, ginger ale over ice and gatorade may help. Tiny frequent sips are important....let me know if you need any other suggestions. Feel Better Soon :)

have you tried to gargle with some salt water it kills infection. if you cant drink try ice lollies because it is fluid in small amounts. if you cannot get any fluids down you need to seek medical help because otherwise you could dehydrate

try drinking tea or sprit some time i find they stay down better than water hope u r better soon we had that stuff a few weeks ago our whole family had it some for as lil as 2 day and some had it for over a week even went to the dr 2 times for meds

Why can't you open your mouth?

If you can't open your mouth voluntarily, maybe you have muscle spasms of your jaw muscles, your tongue could be grossly swollen, or you may have some form of obstruction in the back of your throat.

A visit to the Dr can help work out which. Going to the internet is pretty stupid when it makes you unable to drink.
