Does a blood test catch ALL infections?

still having severe chest pain, thought I had bacterial or viral infection but when went to emergency room they said i had no infections in the blood stream? Yet i know i had both a yeast/and urinary tract infection at the time. Does all blood tests catch all infections? or do they just do a test on one or two?

Any number of blood tests can be ordered to detect various abnormalities. diseases and infections. Many times what the doctor orders is influenced what you tell the doctor. But no, not all tests catch all infections.

The basic one (you hear it ordered on TV shows) is a CBC with differentials (CBC/DIFF). It check and measures...
- white blood cell count (if they are high it usually indicates an infection somewherein the body
- red blood cell count
- hematocit & platelet count
- gloclouse
- Labs which include electrolytes (potassium, sodium) and renal & liver enzymes (ALT, AST)

Sorry...my college chemistry and biology courses were so long ago that's about all I can recall regarding the basic ER blood tests. Oh, they normally also do a urine test which would have caught yout UTI.

Usually, they only test for a few infections. Tests are usually pretty specific. I'm not sure how many/which tests they ran. To answer your direct question, blood tests cannot catch ALL infections. If you are still in pain, see a doctor, different from the previous one if you desire a different opinion.

NO Products like candex and tumeric can kill the bad yeast and leave the good yeast. Replace with probiotics. IF YOU are going to do this start slowly the die off causes bloating and muscle pain. The health food store can also tell you about many other products.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.
