Can Bladder infections cause a type of cramping?

I get bladder infections on a regular basis...usually they're not even infections, just sensitivity to some things i drink such as sugar or acidic drinks. But anyway every now and then(like every 4 months or so) ill have a real bladder infection and i get this stiff cramps, like menstrual cramps. Im used to them because it runs in my family but what causes the cramping, is it my urethra?

it can cause spasms in the bladder yes

I think it is bladder spasms.
