Is blood in the urine a common thing for repeat bladder infections ?

I have had 2 bladder infections back to back, that have included blood in my urine. Both have been treated by antibiotics from the doctor (including culture to be sure they are the right antibiotics for the bacteria) and have appeared to have gone away. But they come back within a few days after the end of the antibiotics. Is it a normal symptom to have blood in the urine w/ bladder infections? What else could it be an indication of? The bleeding stops while I am taking the antibiotics.

If you are getting repeat bladder infections it is probably time to go to a urologist to make sure that everything is all right. My observation has been that men with bladder infections seem to be prone to have blood in the urine more so than women with a bladder infection - but I do not know why - cause I am not a urologist. I do know that people with repeat infections are more at risk for pyelonephritis - kidney infections and kidney failure. You really don't want to hurt those kidneys! I would suggest drinking lots of cranberry juice and making the appointment with the urologist real soon tho.

If there is blood in your urine, go to hospital.

well you need to ask your doctor that question if your concern then you need to make appointment with your doctor.

Burning sensation when urinating (dysuria)
Low-grade fever
Cloudy urine with a strong odor
Frequent urination
Strong, persistent urge to urinate
Blood in the urine (hematuria)
Bladder infections are much less common in men than in women

See a urologist and ask them about a disease called Interstitial Cystitis. The symptoms mimic bladder infections but it doesn't really respond to antibiotics. You can have the disease and be more prone to infection.

Also make sure your doctor cultures out your urine sample. It will till him/her if the antibiotic they prescribed if working on the infection. Its not uncommon to have to try 2 or 3 different antibiotics before the right one is found.
