I need some over the counter medication for bladder infections, help? |
In the last 6 months I have had two bladder infections, So i know for a fact that I have one right now. I am going to see my doctor tomorrow but I need an over the counter medication to help stop or at least "numb" the symptoms of a urinary tract infection. My problem is that I dont know any specific names of these types of medications. If you know of any please tell me. I'm pretty sure it has spread up into my kidneys too...is it safe to take a pain reliever like advil regularaly for a five day period to get rid of the back pain? Any help will be great! Thanks. Im drinking tons of cranberry juice already...hoping that will work and I have already looked up UTI meds on google and a lot of junk came up and i want to get the meds tonight so i thought i would get a quicker answer on Yahoo! and I did... (second answerer) Get some Azo. You can get it at Wal-Mart in the pharmacy section. It can be hard to find, so you might have to ask somebody. It's about 5 or 6 dollars, and it works in 30 minutes. It will definatly get rid of that "gotta go" feeling and the pain. It turns your pee orange, so you know it's working. When you go to the doctor tommorow, ask for something for the pain! They'll give it to you. Many people swear by drinking Cranberry juice. It supposed to do something to the urine so the bacteria can't stick to the urinary tract lining. You could have just run a search for "OTC UTI meds". Azo and Uristat. They both have cranberry extract as one of the ingredients and either will relieve symptoms without treating the infection. Drink water. About all you can do for pain is the Advil or Tylenol type stuff until you can see your doctor and maybe get something stronger. I am also prone to these stupid bladder infections. My doc always says to drink as much cranberry juice as possible. Drink pure cranberry juice not the mixed with other juice kind. Also try drinking it between infections. Increase your water intake as well. Getting up after sex and urinating is often suggested, any bacteria taken into the urethrea during intercourse is flushed out. tylenol and pyridium otc |
