What causes repeditive bladder and uti infections in women?

i had a bladder infection not even 6 weeks ago and now i have a UTI which i was told are pretty much the same thing. i never got them before i became sexually active but, now i do. i have a feeling it has to do with excessive amounts of sex or not cleaning well enough. (i don't need anyone to tell me that i shouldn't be having sex it's my choice, and i don't need anyone calling me nasty or what not because i go to the doctor regularly and i've only been sexually active with one guy and i've been with him for almost 10 months) so please be nice. thanks.

1. Urinate before and after sexual activity to keep the urethra clear.
2. Take a daily cranberry supplement (either 100% cranberry juice, or cranberry extract tablets) to acidify the urine, making it harder for those bacteria to survive.
3. Wipe front to back after using the toilet so you don't accidentally drag fecal particles onto your urethra.
4. Avoid hot tubs and bubble baths.
5. Avoid thong underwear as they can transfer fecal particles to your urethra and vagina. Studies have linked thong panties to increased frequency of vaginal infections, btw!
6. Drink lots of water, so that you have to pee more, in general. Holding back from urinating can actually weaken the baldder muscles, and enable stray bacteria in your urinary tract to grow.

Brushing and flossing your teeth prior to and immediately after oral sex is a NO-NO. Brushing and flossing can cause microfissures in the gums, leading to increased risk of infection. The Listerine suggestion was GREAT, though. Use Listerine or Cepacol to kill oral bacteria (Scope, Act and other brands do not kill bacteria).

Lastly, prophylactic antibiotics should NOT be used because that can promote the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Antibiotics need to be used sparingly to decrease rates of these "superbug" (I hate that term) infections.

Sexually active women are more prone for nonspecific urinary infections. Avoiding reinfection may not always be possible.
Try these things.
1. Good wash and passing urine after sex.
2. Drink plenty of water every day.
3. One tablet of septrim or cipro after sex, this has to be taken for a couple of months.

you need to urinate immediately after sex, you need to wipe from front to back, and you need to be drinking 2 liters of water daily in order to keep your urine dilute so bacteria won't grow in it. If you participate in oral sexual practises, you need to be sure you and your partner brush your teeth and use mouthwash BEFORE sex.

they call it honey mooners diesease... its from having too much sex... bactria can so easily grow in your vagina and bactria is everywhere ,including a mans...penis
