My wife gets bladder infections everytime we have sex. Help?

I am wondering if everytime we have sex, she gets a bladder infection is because of something I have. My crouch area is ichy, expecially in the morning. Also, the smell isn't that pleasant down there, almost like a urine smell but I can't really describe it. Any thoughts on this problem?

I do not get the bladder infection, but soon before or after my period, I may get a yeast infection, and my husband has "received" it as well. He actually has used athlete foot spray to relieve the itching....same type of problem! She may also be just naturally "acidic" (my joking term) and it really depends on the diet and time in her cycle.

When I don't drink enough water, have high stress, or don't eat yogurt, it can be a real problem. Bring it up during an upcoming physical (to rule out any problems) then take a look at your diet. Also, look up Ask Dr. Chao. She is great with these types of issues (nutrition and the WHOLE body system). We have had less and less problems since we've cut down on highly acidic drinks (soda and coffee) and spent more family time to cut back on needless stress.

No, she gets them because of her anatomy. I get them as well, and they're a real pain in the ars!

There are a lot of things she can do to prevent them, like taking cranberry pills every day (they prevent bacteria from attaching themselves to the walls of her bladder) or urinating before and after sex. She should go to a doctor and have herself checked just to make sure there's no bigger problems though.

Could also be a yeast infection that you are passing back and fourth. Sounds gross, but guys can get yeast infections too, and they are just as unpleasant.

Go to the doctor. I don't know what it is, but it's not healthy.

now is your oportunity to go and see the doctor and explain that to him ! So your wife won't keep getting sick !

She needs to go to the bathroom after. Seriously, it is that simple. The bottom line is that fluid and bacteria (Cause it's everywhere) gets shoved into the little opening and my Dr. told me that urinating right after sex will flush that area and keep infections from happening.


As far as the itchy and smell thing... Come on lets face it. Life isn't like the movies. We can't just roll over and fall asleep after sex. Maybe cuddle for a bit, but then you two need to get up and get a wash cloth or take a shower afterwards. Leaving all that "stuff" down there to dry over night is kinda gross. Besides, think of your sheets. You have to sleep on those, ya know.

Go see your GP, they're probably much more qualified than anyone on here to sort you out.

Go check at the local GP so they can check for an STD or STI and then you will find out what is causing discomfort for your wife and self.

It sounds like one of you may have an STD. Itching and a horrible smell is not normal by any means. You should both get to a doctor or clinic and give blood samples. You'll get the results back within a week. You shouldn't wait, you should go immediately. An STD is nothing to fool around with.

Try going to the doctor, the same thing was happening with me and my g/f, and she had to go get something for it, I wasn't sure what though. Drinking a lot of cranberry juice is also supposed to be good for a UTI, which is what your wife's condition sounds like.

Go to the doctor and have that checked out dude, sounds like something might be wrong, have you tried taking a shower before sex

she needs to clean herself after sex, even empty her bladder. its fairly common. could be worse, could be yeast infections.

Perhaps you should go in with your wife next time she goes in for an antibiotic, and explain you suspect you might be passing the infection back and forth and ask to be treated with antibiotics at the same time as her.

Go to the doctor first of all, just in case you have an std. Also,one thing she should do is pee as soon as she can after sex, this cleans her urinary tract and clears the harmful bacteria. Also make sure your member and her area is clean before and after!!

have her go pee and clean up after each time you have sex...I get them too, sometimes after sex, but mostly when I drink caffeine, and recently I've discovered that taking alka seltzer gets rid of them for me...no more expensive trips to the doctor...

You might have an STD that effects her that way. Tell her to pee right after sex everytime and see if that helps

Please see a doctor and get rid of the jock itch. Tthen WASH
twice daily, and air out your private areas for about 15 minutes to keep yourself clean. And a condom wouldn't hurt.

It's highly likely that her bladder infections are a result of sex, which can cause irritation, and transfer of bacteria into the urinary tract. You might have a yeast infection or some other sort of infection in your crotch (not crouch). Best bet is to see a doctor to make sure you have a clean bill of health. Once that's the case, you should both be squeaky clean before having sex, and she should pee right after sex to wash out her urinary tract. If after all that, she still gets bladder infections, she should see her gynecologist.

you might have a bacterial condition that is causing her bladder infections. you should start by making sure you keep your weapon of choice clean. try showering before sex. if that doesnt seem to help see a doctor or go to planned parenthood or some other free clinic and they can give you some zithromax to clear up any infections or bacteria

It's not you. You just need to wash with antibacterial soap. She needs to pee right after sex and wash off any type of juices, anything that is left off there. I used to get them all the time too. But then i have been doing that and i don't get any anymore.

if you were a condom it may be the lube on it if you don't try some K.Y jelly before you start if that don't work don't drink any Beer for a while then have sex or go to the doctor and see if theres anything wrong with you.

She needs to use the bathroom before and after sex and try not to bang (thrust) her so hard. At least thats what my doc told me to try as I experienced quite a bit of bladder infections.......drink lots of water/ 100% cranberry juice......BUT really need to see a doctor for proper diagnosis.

It sounds like YOU have an infection as well! It might be a yeast infection.

Get to the doctor. Both of you. You need to get this issue cleared up.

Regarding sex: Be CLEAN!!! Be clean before, clean up after...and she should always urinate right after as well. The female urethra (where the urine comes out) is much shorter than a man's, which makes them far more susceptible to irritation and infection caused by bacteria and viruses in "that area."
