Are bladder infections sexually transmitted?

Are bladder infections sexually transmitted?

In a way they can be. The thrusting motion of sex can push bacteria up into the woman's urethra. That is why it is always a good idea for the woman to urinate after sex. It washes the bacteria out, making her less likely to get an infection.

They can be.

hmm i think sometimes

No, it happens more often with kids than in adults.

not usually.

No.

No, a bladder infection (or a urinary tract infection) is caused when bacteria migrates up the urethra to the bladder. Having sex can cause bacteria (which is normally found in the perineal are near the vagina and anus) to migrate easily up the urethra. It is a good idea to urinate (go pee) after intercourse to help flush the bacteria out before they cause an infection.

They occur very often, many times for something as simple as when the man, or woman, didn't wash their hands and touch the vaginal area. I'm not making this out, I hear it in a doctor conference.

No they are not but for some women after sex you can develop a bladder infection.
I do. I always after my boyfriend and I have sex, douche. That way I can avoid a bladder infection or sometimes a yeast infection.

No. They can happen after sex because of bacteria that gets into the urethra and into the bladder. They can be prevented by urinating before and after intercourse. Drink lots of water before and after also. They are not sexually transmitted.

No, but a bladder infection can go hand in hand with sexual activity. An infection occurs when tiny organisms, usually bacteria from the digestive tract, cling to the opening of the urethra and begin to multiply. The urethra is the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body. Most infections arise from one type of bacteria, Escherichia coli (E. coli), which normally lives in the colon. In many cases, bacteria first travel to the urethra. When bacteria multiply, an infection can occur. An infection limited to the urethra is called urethritis.

Bladder infections are NOT more common in children. As many as 1 in 5 women will have a UTI sometime in their life. You may find that you get a bladder infection after sex, and this is common, but it is not the sex that's causing the infection. I hope I made it clear! Check out the link, its very good!

Yes and no. Its bacteria that causes the infection, and sometimes this happens through sex, and sometimes this can happen without sex (if you take a lot of baths, it washes away the good bacteria).

Yes they can be, if your partner has one, dont have sex with them until they are treated. Also, the bacteria can lie dormant in your system and pop up months later. Either way, you should go to a doctor and be sure its a UTI and not chlamydia or some other STD.

one of the cause of the bladder infection can be sexually transmitted, some of the answer had mention about the migration of the bacteria, yes, that will be agreeable... the outer part of the body normally get infected by the parasites... while the inner site of the body usually being infected by the bacteria...(note that infection in the alimentary canal especially in both large and small intestines are mainly caused by parasites) in this case, the bladder, the urethra are a convenient path for the pathogen to travel through
