Do Bladder Infections always go away in 3 days with Antibiotics? I would like to know of anyones experience.?

Should the pain go away after the infection is completely gone? Is 2 days long enough to see a dramatic difference?

The bladder infection should start to clear up at 3 days of treatment with the antibiotic and be completely gone including pain by day 7, 10, or 14 days depending on how your dr wrote the script for the antibiotic that you are taking.

Even though it's been 2 days pls don't stop the treatment because stopping it sooner than the dr prescribed can actually cause more problems and making the infection more intense unless a dr tells you to stop at 2 days.

Pls check with your dr to be on the safe side.

It depends on how severe your infection was. Usually after 2 full days of antibiotics you should be feeling a difference. Maybe not 100%, but better. If you aren't feeling much better in a couple of days I would let my dr know. The bacteria in your urine may not be sensitive to the antibiotic. Ask for a urine culture too.

Not always. A stubborn bladder infection can last beyond 3 days. If you are still bothered with symptoms, call your Doctor for an appt. to see if you need another round of antibiotics or even something stronger. If you've had fairly frequent infections in the past, you may need stronger drugs to kill it out. If the antibiotics you were given are going to work, it should work within three days and you should see an improvement in symptoms within three days as well. Good luck!

A bladder infection is not usually completely gone in 3 days. It's possible for symptoms to disappear and still have live bacteria lurking around to make a strong comeback. That's why ALL antibiotics should be taken even after symptoms have cleared.

Drink plenty of cranberry juice. And lemon or limeade is good also. Yogurt and cottage cheese is advisable. Avoid milk and orange juice, coffee and cola. Decaf tea is good...especially with lemon and/or honey.

After the course of antibiotics a round of probiotics is preferred. If you don't wish to take these then yogurt is highly recommended to replace the good intestinal bacteria that have been killed off by the antibiotic.

There actually is a 3 day treatment of Cipro and it did cure the URI for me in 3 days. I am not sure what the strength was, it was a while back. You are to finish the prescribed Antibiotic, for the length of time it was prescribed, many treatments are for 7 to 14 days. Why should you be in hurry, make sure all the discomfort and pain are gone.

There are a large number of types of bladder infections. In young healthy females it is now not uncommon to get a good response to a simple three day course of antibiotics if it is a "simple cystitis". If there have been additional bladder infections in the preceding 4 to 6 months it is advisable to have additional tests or, at the very least, to utilize a longer course of antibiotics. The offending organism determines how long you must be treated. For many people the symptoms can be greatly relieved within 48 hours. Once the infection has been eliminated there should not be any symptoms. Someone else mentioned the use of pyridium (azopyridine), this helps with some of the symptoms but does not treat the bacterial infection.
