The current practices in infection control in burn injuries?

how is sterility be maintained in burns?

When someone sustains a burn of any kind, it is so important to keep the area clean, COVERED, and not exposed to any outside bacteria. Treatment depends on the nature of the burn. Is it 1st, 2nd, or 3rd degree. The more severe the burn, requires different treatments. However, all must be kept clean. Besides sterility, the person must maintain a proper balance of fluids, for tthe elecrolytes, pain meds. and good nutrition. All of these combined will aid in the healing process. But to know exactly what to do, you need to say what kind or degree of burn it is. Topical ointments may be applied to the area before covering it. Hope this helps.

make contact with Emory University in DeKalb County, Georgia, near Atlanta or Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. both are stars in burn control technology and are the trauma centers for the south.

I dont think that 100% sterility can be obtained unless the person is isolated in a vaccume tent. The best way to curb infection would be to change out dressings often and use antibiotic ointment. The ointment will also prevent the dressing from sticking to the wound and make it easier to remove with less pain for the patient

dont mess around the risk of infection is way to hi get to a burn center asap
