The most important means to control infection and provent its spread? |
what about antibiotic use when we were children what is different now? Antibiotics are making things worse because they have been overused and used to combat viruses, which doesn't work. The oversued antibiotics kill off the weaker bacteria, leaving room and food for the stronger, more dangerous bacteria that are more likely to cause grave illnesses or kill people. i would say vaccinations and sanitation. the infectious diseases prevented by vaccines are almost practically non existant anymore since vaccination became a widespread practice. and things like sewage systems, chlorinated water, etc. also really reduced infectious disease in the early 1900s Amputation. The number one means to control and prevent the spread of infection is ...WASHING YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY. Think about how many surfaces you touch in a day that thousands of other people have also touched, do you know where their hands have been? If people were more careful about hand washing there would be little need for vaccinations or antibiotics. Hand washing. Yes it is just that simple. The most important means to control infection and prevent its spread is hand washing. This destroys a lot of the germs we pick up from touching so many surfaces throughout the day. The antibiotics that we used when we were children will not work for us now due to needing to be of a much higher dosage and most of us have become dependent on antibiotics that we have become immune to them. Hand washing. But not the way most people do. I learned from an infectious disease specialist that you need to wash your hands for a minimum of 15 seconds, which kills or removes most bacteria and viruses from your hands. Most people give it a 3-5 second lather and rinse. That's not enough. I taught my grand daughters to sing the ABC's song. Going through it once takes about 15 seconds, and it's fun. all the ones who are saying wash hands are right the one who said to wash for a longer time is right. |
