Birth Control linked to Yeast infections? How many women effected? |
I have been having yeast infections off and on along with bactirial vaginosis. I have had this problem for about 2 years now. Doc treats me as infections come. I am fustrated and tired of it, I beat my brain to find out what I did different 2 years ago. I have narrowed it down and I think it was my Birth Control. That is the only thing that has changed, my insurance wouldn't pay for ortho tri cyclin so they switched me to ortho tri nessin (the generic). Ever since I have had these problems. I told my doc and she is changing me back to Ortho Tri Cyclin-Lo. I hope this works I am starting it tonight. I am taking BC because I am married and trying to have sex (when I don't have an infection.) I tell you what, after I get my yeast infection problems worked out I will never take making love for granted again. Yes, I had the same problem. I went through it for about a year until I found the source of the problem. I also threw all my underwear away and bought new panties. I don't know if that really helped but I didn't get anymore infections after that. im taking ortho tri cyclen (generic tri sprintec) and havent had any problems like that and i've been on it about 2 almost 3 years I am taking Tri Cyclen as well, but I think i might have a yeast infection, so maybe they are tied together Well are you on the birth control so that you can have sex without getting pregnant? I ask because having sex can cause infections so easily. I'd quit having sex and go off of the pill and see if these problems clear up. Then you'll know for sure if it's the cause, simple as that. I got a yeast infection when I switched birth control pills, but it was just the one incident. It seems quite plausible that the birth control caused your infections--they can change the flora in the vagina. |
