A question about staph infection(MRSA)?

I have been diagnosed with MRSA in my ear and today I had to go back to the drs and he suctioned it out and said that it didnt get any better nor did it get any worse. Today was the 5th dr appointment with this specialist and now he wants me to go to the Infections control center. He told me that the medicine he has me on is keeping it contained but it is not helping it and the next step is to go with a stronger antiobiotic that is only administered through IV normally but the do have the pill form but he put me back on what he put on b4 until i see the ICC and to see what the suggest...my question is has anyone went throught this b4 or no anyone that has and what did they do for them??? I am really really really scared and i need something to ease my mind

What they probably want to put you on for an IV is vancomycin. There is a pill form but it is only used for GI infections because the ability of the pill to get into the bloodstream is poor.

Don't worry, the infectious disease people will help you out.

go to the specialist to be treated.. In the nursing home that I work at we see a lot of patients with MRSA...They usually get it when they go to the hospital for short stays, but not always...It is contagious and very hard to clear up..One little old lady in particular got MRSA in her ear 4 times in a year. Finally the Dr. put her on antibiotics through an IV and in no time it was cleared up. So do as your Dr. says and you will be fine..Good Luck.

TRY NOT TO WORRY! THIS WEAKENS YOUR SYSTEMS DEFENSES!
MRSA IS A VERY STRONG STRAIN OF DRUG RESISTANT STAPH.
IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TREAT.
WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IS A TEST TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE RESISTANT TO.
THERE ARE SEVERAL ANTIBIOTICS THAT ARE USED FOR THE RESISTANT TYPE STRAINS.. MRSA IS VERY HARD TO RID FROM YOUR SYSTEM, IN FACT, ONCE YOU HAVE ACQUIRED IT , IT WILL REMAIN IN YOUR SYSTEM, DORMANT, SOMETIMES REEMERGING..
TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR MORE ABOUT YOUR CONCERNS..
CHECK OUT medlineplus OR healingwell
THERE ARE MORE DETAILS THERE ABOUT MRSA!
IV ANTIBIOTICS ARE OFTEN THE LAST RESORT IF YOU ARE NOT RESPONDING TO TREATMENT.
HOPE THAT SOME COMBINATION WILL RESULT IN GETTING THIS UNDER CONTROL!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

a friend of mine had a mrsa infection in a cut on his finger last year. it got really infected and he had to be admitted into the hospital for a bit for a full course of iv antibiotic therapy. the infection went away after a few days. mrsa infections are scary and are an unfortunate consequence of the overuse of antibiotics.

hang in there, you'll be fine after the antibiotic therapy.
good luck!

You might want to try out the mangosteen juice from US it may help you because in Vitro studies performed in Thailand have demonstrated that certain mangosteen Xanthones possess equivalent antibacterial potency against MRSA as equivalent to some common prescription antibiotics and for more info the Xanthones you my refer to this website www.mangosteenmd.com.
