I'm worried about a toothache infection spreading to my heart I keep hearing horror stories but let me explain

As of now it's currenty thursday 1-10-08, my toothache started last friday. I pretty much had to go the entire weekend in horrible pain. Monday I went to a MD and he prescribed me cleocin (clindamycin) and as of now the swelling how gone done alot, pain is almost virtually gone, but I'm waking up in little sweat puddles. Is this normal? is my body fighting the infection? I just don't want to NOT wake up because this spread to my heart. I would be under the impression that the infection is now under control considering the loss of swelling and pain. Please, any insight to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Those horror stories kinda have me on edge. Thank you very much.

I would call your doc to make sure that is a normal side effect from the medication.

You have done all the right things, don't worry, that kind of thing would take much longer and would have been ignored for a while.
The next step is to go to a dentist and have the problem fixed.
Do this and you will be fine --Don't worry and good luck!!!

(yes, all of that sounded normal- you had an infection and your body and medication were trying to fight it--and it sounds like it is much better.)

Relax. It could be side affects, or you stressing out over those horror stories.

It's now 2008, stuff like that doesn't happen anymore

Just relax and call your doctor, he'll fill you in on why that's happening

Discontinue the medication immediately. Call your doctor and get a new prescription to address the issue of the tooth. You really should be visiting a dentist or oral surgeon to get the best prescription for your specific tooth problem.

Jesus go to the Dentist not an MD. You should be more worried about it spreading to your brain then your heart. Tooth infections can kill you if you don't get treatment. An MD is not going to be able to help as much. Go to the Dentist NOW!!!

My brother is a dentist.
He tells me that they are trained to see many diseases by checking the health of the mouth.
Go to a dentist.

It's naive to think that "things like this don't happen" in this day and age, but it is most probable that the infection will not spread to your heart. The sweats you are waking up in are probably caused because your body is fighting infection, but in your mouth only. Dental disease can be a sign of more serious problems, but it sounds like you and your doctor have things under control.
