Birth Control Question?

Ok. Please only people who know this answer, answer this question! I am on the birth control pill Yasmin. I was on antibiotics for a sinus infection which decreased the effectiveness of my birth control. I started the antiobiotics probably sometime in the last hormone week of the pills. I have had my period, gone through a whole other pill pack, had my period again. Is it safe to have unprotected sex now? I have gone through a month's worth of pills.. I think it is ok but I want to make sure!

Oh yeah. And usually when I post a pregnant or birth control question, someone tells me to stop having unprotected sex. I'm married. So none of that please! :)

you should be fine. it usually takes 7-10 days for birth control to shut down your ovaries and egg production line. So kudos for you for not having unprotected sex with your hubby for a month. I'm sure he's pretty upset but good for YOU! Great willpower!

I think you are safe by now.

If you've gone threw a whole pack since. You are 99% safe that other 1% goes to them not being 100% effective Have fun

i was told to wait one month for your body to get used to the pills. and i know what you mean about the sarcastic answers.good luck and have fun.

You should be fine now. When you start birth control, they tell you to wait a month before having unprotected sex so its fine.

Yes you are fine. The only time that it would have been unsafe would have been when you were on the antibiotics and probably 48-72 hours after you were finished. I am glad that you are being responsible and making sure that it is okay to have unprotected sex.

yes you should be fine in theory. But the pill isnt 100% effective- so if u REALLY dont want to get preggers- use a condom.

You're good. Absolutely safe.

Perhaps you can also call the pharmacy where you got your pills and ask them? I've heard that different kinds of antibiotics will have a different effect on your birth control pills.
