Birth control+antibiotics?

I am on Yasmin birth control, and here recently I had a sinus infection and wound up having to take Biaxin to get rid of the infection. How soon after taking Biaxin on birth control can I have unprotected sex without worrying aout pregnancy?

you should use condoms for a week after finising your antibiotics as antibiotics reduces the effectiveness of contraception.

In general I think 1 cycle is the rule. Try asking your doctor specifically though and they might give you the ok to start sooner.

wait until your next period...then you are safe.

I also take Yasmin and its ok to take other medicine with it as long as it's not the list that comes in the little book inside. Now a question for you....do you get sick when you take is and get bad headaches? And if you want to be extra careful wait 2 weeks, just like it said to when you first started.

I would be very careful...wait until your next cycle...in the mean time condoms sweetie are the next best thing...and please don't go by the list of drugs given, there are too many drugs out there to list...better safe than sorry :(

you need to wait a month before continuing unprotected sex after antibiotics you can also check web md if you dont believe me

AFTER YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOU ANTIBIOTICS AND YOUR PERIOD AND YOU START A NEW CYCLE OF PILLS. THEN YOU SHOULD BE GOOD W/OUT OTHER PROTECTION BE CAREFULL THOUGH I HAD A FRIEND WHO GOT PREGNANT BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T WAIT CALL YOU PHARMACIST HE CAN ANSWER THAT FOR YOU ALSO.

I recently had a bladder infection and had to take anti-biotics for it. I asked the pharmacist and she said that it does affect it and for the seven days I was taking it and for at least seven days after my pills may not be effective. Just to be safe I would wait until your next period and starting of next batch of pills (if you are in a monogamous, committed relationship- if not use protection all the time ;o)

You should wait at least on full pack of pills before taking any chances. It won't be the end of the world to use nother form of protection for a little while ;-)

P.S. Don't get me wrong... my boys are my world and if I could go back... I'd do it all over again.

Hi it depends if your pill is effected by antibiotics,if you have a bleed during your periods if its not a pill you take straight threw the month, then you either dont have a break and carry on taking it througout the month then have a break next month, or you have to use another from of contraception for 1 week after you have finished the cause of antibiotics. But if you are worried i would leave it for the rest of the month with out having it unprotected and start again when you start a new pack.

Once you taken seven effective pills in a row after the last of the anitibiotics. If the seven days takes you onto the sugar pills when you have your period, skip those sugar pills and start another pack immediately.
