Chest Pain- indigestion or more serious? 26 years old!? |
I experienced a sharp pain in my left upper chest/shoulded that lasted for about 30 seconds last night. The pain subsided and I went to sleep. I woke up in the night sweaty and nauseous and have felt pretty horrible most of the day. I have had indigestion/gas all day and an "achy" chest that may or may not be from the gas. I am only in my mid twenties, a non-smoker, normal cholesterol,(180) and not overweight. What are the chances this was a heart attack? Would the symptoms simply subside and allow me to have a normal day without any additional severe pain, just a dull ache? Would I know if it was a heart attack? Any advice would be appreciated! the pain in the shoulder was very brief and last night...today the ach has been in the middle of the chest towards the base of the sternum. See a doctor. You could have a blood clot or a congenital heart condition. There have been many people who simply dropped dead in their 20's because of a condition they were never aware of. Indigestion would not be in your shoulder, it would be in your middle chest or throat as "heartburn" is in your esophagus. Also, it would be more of a burning sensation than a sharp one. Chances are you don't have heart disease. especially because your young ,don't smoke and have a normal weight. Has either of your parents had any blockages in there heart (any heart disease) that you know of. If so, how old were they when they had it. If they were around your age, you might have it. I would tell a doctor just in case. Better safe than sorry. only way to know for sure is to go to the doctor. but maybe suggest having an ultrasound for the gallbladder. i had gallstones and it caused sharp pains, nausea and lottttss of heartburn! good luck! If you are experiencing chest pain, you need medical attention. Yes, it could possibly be a sign of heart trouble. You are far better off being checked out. NEVER ignore chest pain. Either call your doctor or go to an ER NOW. If there is no one who can drive you, call 911. |
