Peanuts and a feeling of indigestion?

I know I'm not allergic to peanuts... I have eaten them my entire life and never had a bad reaction or anything like that.

But once in awhile (not always), if I am eating either straight peanuts or peanut butter, I immediately get a tight feeling in my chest area, similar to indigestion, that sticks with me for awhile. It's the weirdest thing. I can't figure out what would cause this. Any idea?

It's caused by your stomach making more stomach acid in order to break down the dense peanut. That acid begins to burn your stomach lining. I had the same problem about 5-6 years ago. Now I feel that way if I eat apples, salsa, nuts, and pizza. I can eat any of those things but not on an emply stomach, and not before exercise.

Sorry, get some pepcid ac and get used to it.

I wish I had an answer for you... I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone in this. I end up with indigestion every time I eat peanuts or peanut butter on their own. It makes me wonder if it might be a slight allergic reaction.
