Truck Driving HealthRegulations Indiana Department of Transportation w/ Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator

I have had my CDL and have driven a semi for 18 years. I recently had to have an Implantalbe Carioverter Defibrillator put in. Can I still drive and maintain my Class A CDL license?

I know this is not a definite answer for you but...

In Pennsylvania your doctor or an assigned State Doctor has to sign the papers for your CDL. So that is the place I would check first.

If Indiana allows you to use your Doctor it makes it all the easier to find out the answer.

I tried researching your question, by going to your Department of Motor Vehicles website and I couldn't find an answer......Sorry. Anyway, my suggestion would be to call the local office and ask them.

I don't know for certain, but I can't possibly think of a reason why they would. There shouldn't be any reason unless there is a very powerful magnet or similar device in the cab that could interfer.

ICDs typically affects less than 1 in 20 who have them. Or so said my doctor when he was discuss my new one a week back. There is no health reason just because of the ICD. An ICD is an insurance plan more than anything.
