Impetigo. did you know you could get it from the gym?

impetigo is a flesh virus contracted though a open sore or boo boo as my two year old calls it. and it is very contagious so wash your hands after you touch stuff in public places and don't touch any of your boo boos with out washing your hands

Actually, Impetigo is a bacterial infection caused by "staph" and "strep",and very contagious and easily transmitted, especially in children. It causes a rash, and small "pustules" that can be anywhere on the body, most common would be face, arms and legs.Early treatment can prevent deeper skin infections.Treatment is with Penicillin or with "cephalsporin" antibiotics by mouth. Keep the antibacterial wipes and hand gels available, especially at the gym and to wipe down shopping cart handles etc.Take care. SW RNP

Impetigo is not a "flesh virus". It is caused by a staph infection. Staph lives on everyones skin. It is very common in infants and young children and is easily treated with antibiotics.

not exactly good info. had a nasty case of it myself, from step-mom using my razor to shave her legs. she got it from some guy and i guess you can figure out how THAT happened. nice, huh? it's bacterial, though, not viral. antibiotics for treatment, my doc also gave me hydrocortisone for itch relief. it's been nearly 20 yrs. since i had to deal with it, so i don't know if treatment has changed at all. if you've got it, i'm sorry to hear that. try not to scratch!

A case went around my school and somehow I got it too. I hat it. Its been almost a month & theres still a scar on my leg. :[
