Popping Impetigo? |
I have an impetigo-like thing on my face. My dermatologist has this huge name for it, but I'm pretty sure its the same thing. It covers about 1/4 inch next to my eyebrow, one zit-sized under my eyebrow, 1/8 inch on my eyelid, and zit-sized under my eye. I've been careful not to touch it so it won't spread, but I think I did it in my sleep because I itch in my sleep (eczema). Its insanely noticeable and I want it gone faster than regular. Would popping the blisters make it go away faster? I think I remember my sister doing this to hers when we were younger, and I had to because it got so bad on one of my hands that it turned into a large blood blister. If it is impetigo, or a related infection, popping it would be the last thing you'd want to do. It's full of bacteria, currently walled off from the rest of your body by your skin and immune system. If you break it, you will injure skin around the spot, and release millions of bacteria to new spots available for rent. Instead of one spot, you could end up with multiple ones. And being near the eye, it could also move into the eye- really a bad scenario. For sleeping protection, cover it with a large bandaid. When you can do it, apply moist heat with a clean washcloth, hot as you can stand it, as often as you can stand it. That will encourage things to drain faster and heal. Plus, if your body drains this, it won't damage things and you won't be risking a nasty looking scar. Your skin won't appreciate the interference in the name of help, it won't heal things faster, and it can make matters worse. So keep your hands off it. I think popping it may make it spread. And depending on how bad it is it could also scar you. Ask your dermatologist. This is too serious to be relying on anything you'd get here. Did he call it staphylococcus aureu? Usually an antibotic is given and sometimes antibotic cream is given. You can soak it with warm water, but remember use a clean towel or wash cloth everytime and don't use it on anywher else as you don't want to spread it. You want to dry it out quickly as possible. If no cream was given to use, try a triple antiboitic cream. And Don't pop it..germs spread. go to the pharmacy and ask for this stuff called "RESINOL" medicated ointment. put some on those spots when you go to bed and cover them with a piece of gauze so you dont get it on your pillow. that will take care of it. its for cuts, burns, scrapes, minor skin irritations. it has calamine, resorcinol, and zinc oxide in it. It works. I have been using it for a couple years now when I get rashes on myself. you dont have to put a ton of it on those spots, just enuff to cover them. let me know what happens. ok good luck (and try not to touch any open sores cuz it will spread like wildfire!!!) I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean or over weight and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there if you are looking. |
