Go to the Dr.

Go to the Dr. and get some medication. At the same time disinfewct everything that touches your face. Pillow, coat, and such.

impetigo comes from a bacteria that is in the ground it needs to be treated with an anti-biotic. be thankful you are getting it in the 21 st century. my son had in the the 1970's and at that time you would be quarantined in your house for two weeks with big signs on your house like we were. so contact your doctor and get an anti-biotic asap.

you need prescription medicine. you need to go to doctor for it. If you have impetigo, it is contagious. you are probably spreading it.

Self-Care at Home

Clean all sores and bites with antibacterial soap and water. Don't scratch or pick.
The infection is contagious. Other people may contract the infection if you come in contact with them. Use separate wash cloths and hand towels.
Often, the rash and infection will go away on its own, but antibiotics are usually needed to get rid of the infection.
You may apply antibacterial ointment, but wash your hands well after applying it.
If the sores are in areas you shave (men on their face; women on their legs), shave around the sores so you won't spread the infection further.
Medical Treatment

The physician will typically prescribe oral or topical antibiotics or both.

Oral: The most common types of antibiotics taken as pills are special types of penicillin or related medications called cephalosporins. If you have a penicillin allergy, the treatment is usually with erythromycin (or other similar medicines such as clarithromycin (Biaxin) or azithromycin (Zithromax)).
Topical: Topical antibiotic treatment is with a medication called mupirocin (Bactroban).
Follow-up

Keep your skin clean and dry and avoid any further injury. Use the medication your physician prescribes. If the rash becomes more extensive, becomes more painful, or worsens in any other way, contact your physician or get evaluated in the Emergency Department.

Additionally, blood in your urine, skin swelling, or a rise in blood pressure may be signs of kidney inflammation. You need to see a physician as soon as possible if any of these occur.
Prevention

You can prevent impetigo by avoiding contact with others who have impetigo. It also helps if you keep your skin clean, dry, and avoid scraping or injuring your skin.

Impetigo is usually the direct result of a skin infection caused by the dirt under your nails. It is caused by scratching hard enough to embed the microbes under your epidermis. If what you have, recurs without you scratching your face, then it may be something else. For your own safety and peace of mind, consult a dermatologist so he or she can prescribe the correct medication to help you get rid of such an annoyance!

The Dr. might give you something to lessen the severity of the onset of sores. Sorry , but they don't go away quickly. Most people , with age , impetigo will disapear and not give further problems.

Hi..

My daughter has bad skin and gets it ALL THE TIME. Any scratch she has usually turns to some sort of rash. The doctor prescribed her Bactroban cream. Anytime she has a scratch or sore or anything that even looks like it's coming up, we apply the cream to it three times a day.

She now has no problems.

This is an easy problem to fix, you just need the correct medication.

Good luck.

well wash your hands often. keeping anything from infecting it again is a good thing. if you use any kind of lip balm it is infected with the bacteria and you just keep reinfecting it if you use it after getting a sore. also go to the health food store or try Wal-mart and get some Lysine you take several capsules of that every day and it does help to clear things up.

I used to get them pretty often but now when I feel a sore coming on I start back taking some lysine and it clears it up.

you wont have to take the lysine forever just till they clear up and you dont have one for awhile.

good luck

Impetigo is a highly contagious bacterial skin infection. It requires an oral antibiotic and usually, a topical ( apply to the the sores) cream. It is very important the all linens, clothing, pillows etc. be washed so that you prevent re contamination( re-occurrence) of the infection.Cover the areas,if possible, with a gauze or dressing so that you don't accidentally touch or scratch the spots. Be sure to wash your hands after touching or applying the topical medication. Have you been seen by your Doc?? If not, you need to do so ASAP because you need treatment and, as I previously mentioned, this is highly contagious . I hope that this helps and Good Luck.
