How can I stop Impetigo from spreading? |
My 4 month old daughter has Impetigo. She only has a little bit on her face and a little bit on her leg, have anyone else's children had this and how did you stop it spreading. Have gotten antibiotics and ointment from the doc, but would like to know if there is anything additional I should be doing? Michael H - The doc said the it is a form of staph and that kids have it on their skin normally. And while some kids react to it and get sores, some kids don't. He didn't indicate where it came from though. You should be on the right path of treatment. Keep using the meds and watch closely for other infected areas. Buy some generic triple antibiotic ointment or neosporin and smear it on her impetigo before she goes to bed. It will be better by morning. True story. you can also give her a bath at nighttime with oatmeal in it,i can't remember the first part of it but it has oatmeal in it my son caught chicken pox back in 95 at the end of school and that's what we used on him at nighttime,we also used that clear calamine lotion during the day that help from itching also. I had it when I was 10 yrs old and the way you spread it is scratching it and touching other parts of your body because it infects the area you touch right away.It is very itchy and irritating. You might want to put pajama mittens on the child's hands so she won't be able to scratch it in her sleep, and use the creams the Doctor prescribed liberally.Do you know how she got it? I would like to know. |
