What is a natural cure for impetigo?

My 16 month old daughter has impetigo. Last time she had it, we gave her baby vitamins and put hydrocortizone cream on it and it went away in like 2 days. The same treatment isn't working as well this time. What can I do that's NATURAL. I don't want her to have an antibiotic.

Try this link sweetie, really good home remedies on it:

I've used loads of the information on this site, wot with 5 children!! Best part is they're all natural remedies, really cheap, environmentally friendly and no chemicals to harm little bodies!!

PEACE & LIGHT 2 U

There is no natural cure if it's impetigo. It's a bacterial infection and has to be treated by antibiotics.
She needs to see her pediatrician right away.

Facts here:

my daughter had it too at about that age and we took her to the drs and they gave her a cream called fudicilin (something like that spelling any way) she never had anti biotics just the cream...hope that helps...xxx

A mild infection is typically treated with a prescription antibacterial cream such as mupirocin.

you really dont sound like you know what youre doing and you shouldnt be self medicating your daughter if you think she might have impetigo... vitamins dont help with bacterial infection whatsoever, and using hydrocoritsone w/o an antibiotic could theoretically make it worse. if it actually was impetigo you just got lucky last time and it went away on its own. if it is impetigo, take her to the doctor. if she gets yeast infections from antibiotics or you have other concerns ask the doctor to write for the most narrow specturm antibiotic he can that he would still think is effective. or you could even ask him if a cream will work for her case, most creams are barely absorbed by the body and so have few if any side effects. antibiotics are for the most part safe, and people have died from not treating impetigo and allowing it to spread to the blood stream. the small risk from an antibiotic is less than letting the impetigo go. it might go away on its own, it might not. just take her to the doctor and get rid of it.

Herbal Remedies

For a contagious condition like impetigo, herbal remedies concentrate on preventing the spread of infection.

With a cotton pad, dab echinacea extract on affected area after a bath. Alternate every five minutes with concentrated liquid whey. Continue this treatment for half an hour, repeating every two hours. The echinacea prevents infection and the whey kills the bacteria. Use only sterilized cotton to squeeze open pustules, then apply echinacea.

Calendula salve also prevents infection effectively and speeds healing. Mix with vitamin E oil and apply to affected area to promote healing without *scarring.

Drink 10 drops of echinacea in liquid three times daily for one week.

Sage, thyme, St. John鈥檚 wort, stinging nettle, licorice root and red clover help cleanse the blood. Prepare a herbal tea and drink three times daily to nurture the *skin and help clear up the problem.

Drink 2 oz. of aloe vera juice three times daily.

Alternate topical use of aloe vera gel and tea tree oil on an hourly basis, or as needed.
