What is a natural cure for impetigo? |
My 16 month old daughter has impetigo. Last time she had it, we gave her baby vitamins and put hydrocortizone cream on it and it went away in like 2 days. The same treatment isn't working as well this time. What can I do that's NATURAL. I don't want her to have an antibiotic. Try this link sweetie, really good home remedies on it: There is no natural cure if it's impetigo. It's a bacterial infection and has to be treated by antibiotics. my daughter had it too at about that age and we took her to the drs and they gave her a cream called fudicilin (something like that spelling any way) she never had anti biotics just the cream...hope that helps...xxx A mild infection is typically treated with a prescription antibacterial cream such as mupirocin. you really dont sound like you know what youre doing and you shouldnt be self medicating your daughter if you think she might have impetigo... vitamins dont help with bacterial infection whatsoever, and using hydrocoritsone w/o an antibiotic could theoretically make it worse. if it actually was impetigo you just got lucky last time and it went away on its own. if it is impetigo, take her to the doctor. if she gets yeast infections from antibiotics or you have other concerns ask the doctor to write for the most narrow specturm antibiotic he can that he would still think is effective. or you could even ask him if a cream will work for her case, most creams are barely absorbed by the body and so have few if any side effects. antibiotics are for the most part safe, and people have died from not treating impetigo and allowing it to spread to the blood stream. the small risk from an antibiotic is less than letting the impetigo go. it might go away on its own, it might not. just take her to the doctor and get rid of it.
