has anyone had it?was it painful and itchy for you as well?i started taking antibiotics yestarday when will it clear? Poor you, I sympathise. I had impetigo in my teens after a cat scratched my face. It is very contagious so don't let anyone else touch it. Antibiotics will take 48hrs to really kick in. KEEP IT DRY AND DON'T SCRATCH OR TOUCH IT. It spreads by weeping a clear liquid from the infected area. Don't worry about Herpes (Herpes simplex is the cold sore virus) it has nothing to do with impetigo. I had it as a child... Yes it was painful and itchy, and you need to wash it often with soap. Impetigo is an infection, but it is not herpes. Herpes can cause cold sores, but that is not impetigo. It is usually treated with a topical medicine, and is contagious. i had fucidin for mine (spelling might be wrong) it was very painful and because i didn't know what is what i picked it and it spread like mad, with the cream it took about a week to clear fully, impetigo is a staph infection, you usually take antibiotics and use a cream, there are loads of different forms of the infection and it can take a few weeks to clear Impetigo is discussed at the skin care website below. |
