Can impetigo in a child be spread to pets?

Dogs get a similar condition called Staph Pyoderma. It's can be the same organism as impetigo. But staphylococcus are normal flora in animals and humans. Your pets already have it, it only becomes a problem if they have some other disorder that allows the bacteria to overgrow on the skin. So technically no the child wouldn't spread it to the pets.

I don't think so - my son had it and I seem to recall doc saying no.
