Impetigo should i go to school??

i have had imetigo for the last week and a bit and the doctor just gave me ointment as it was not that bad then. Then it spread and got worse and my mum was hesitant to put me on antibiotics. Any how she did on friday and ive been on them over the weekend. It has got a bit better not as much oosing. My mum is SET on me going to school since i was not allowed at school last week.

My doctor said until they have to be completley gone before i go back but im not sure what to do! (as that could be ages till the completely go..)
Plus i am trying to let her let me stay home becuase it looks really bad going to high school l :(
When i say i want to stay home she says ooohh but youve had the whole week off blah blah school work i know that stuff but it looks sooo ugly and i don't want to pass it on to people am i still contagious after 2 days of antibiotics
arrgh help please what is your view if you were a teenager and it looks bad??

Go back to the doctor monday morning before school,he'll probably tell you to stay home until it clears up,plus you're gonna need a drs.note.then your mom will have to let you stay home.

You have the Dr. to back you up and the school nurse has certain guidelines as well.

Hey kid it's best to listen to the doctor. Odds are the school will send you home when they see it anyway. If they think it's contagious your bound for home. I am not sure of disease without research as my brain doesn't always work well. You need to have your mom call school and ask first so you don't have to go through the embarrassment. I too have had skin problems. Back to mom.....when she talks to school and they say stay home have her get all of your homework so you do not fall behind. Make sure homework is done when you go back to school. Best of luck.

I am a nurse and you should absolutely NOT go to school as long as you have any sores. they are extremely contagious. I know this not just from the hospital but also from personal experience; My own children gave it to me years ago. Take all of the antibotics and dont scratch at it, it will scar you badly.

don't go to school yet. finish your antibiotics off.

thing is, you really have to be keen on your hygiene. daily bath with newly laundered clothes would really help. don't get offended, but i was told by my pedia doctor friend that it only happens this way.

just be careful next time. also take your vitamins.

so that your mom won't nag about your school absence, try reading at home too.. or at least when she's around, show her that you're into your schoolwork. hehe
