I get impetigo in the same place on my face every two years and always in the month of February. Any help?

it's always on my chin and i don't mess with my face or anything. but it causes two weeks of stress and ugliness. any advice?

I suspect in the winter your skin is somewhat drier and it is easier for the bacteria to penetrate your skin. Frequent washing with moisturizing soap might help
The same thing used to happen to me in the summer for about 4 years running. I was careful to start washing frequently and it seems to have solved the problem

It is probably getting under your nails, and then transferred to your chin when you absent-mindedly scratch. Keep your nails clean, wash your hands frequently, and be sure to wash your face twice a day.

I am the same way, but it is just under my nose...(usually after I have been fighting a cold) I have found applying a warm compress to remove the blisters/scabs... and then constantly keeping a triple antibiotic ointment on it at all times cuts down the length of the outbreak...
I used to get this all the time as a kid, and now every couple of years or so I do...It's very gross and annoying!! I thought I was the only one out there with this issue!!
Good luck to you!! (also, if it is near or on your lips, take the "vitamin" L-Lysine...this promotes healthy lip tissue...)

I was told from my doctor that it never goes away once you have it the infection stays with you. you may get it less later on but you technicaly still have it.

I have it and i used to get it every time i was stressed or about to do sumthing important, everytime i was planning a birthday party or to go to school dances i would break out and it would go away like two days after i already had to miss my plans.

Now i olny get it when i have a cold or somthing.

I got it from my Uncle who to the best of my knowlege still gets it too.

Impetigo is caused by Staphylococcus aureus. It would depend on if that bacteria is present in the standing water and if it got into a break in the skin.
